S.T.A.L.K.E.R. the book

Yep, the book

By Ahlgreenz 3 years ago

Ok fellas. Ever since I bought S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Shadow of Chernobyl back in november 2008, I've been hooked on S.T.A.L.K.E.R. because I just love the universe and the creepy experiences from the game.

Now, a week ago I bought the book that inspird the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games, "Roadside Picnic" which also is set in Soviet, and in Zones, but the story behind it is a little different. There are still anomalies and artifacts, but this time it's not from radiation caused by the NPP's second explosion, but by a "mysterious visit from outer space". Yes, sadly that would include aliens, but luckely, the book aren't about them, but the zone itself (there are more than 1 zone in the book, there are 5 or 6).

So, I'm not finished reading it yet because I just recieved it yesterday, but It's the best book I've ever read. I know that the two brothers who wrote it, Arkady & Boris Strugatsky, also have written several other books, but what I'd ike to know is, if you guys know any sequels or prequels to "Roadside Picnic"? If not, do you then know if they've written other books that are set in the same universe as "Roadside Picnic"? Because I'd really like to read those too :)

P.S. There are also made a movie based on the book, called "Stalker"

And here's a link to amazon.co.uk to anyone interested in the book "Roadside Picnic":

Hey mate, I have bought the book and read it, too. It's genuinely good. I won't say anything about the ending...lol

Also, you should watch Ctankep by Andrei Tarkovsky. It's based on this book and is also one of the contributing factors to the video game. It's about 3 hours long lol, but worth watching.

Edit: oops you already said that xD

    Yours sincerely, Gry ;D

Yeah well, I'm not done reading yet, because I'm not the kind of person that reads a book in one or two days :) I usually read 10-30 pages a day, when I have a book that interest me that is.

Well, glad to see people who read books. And I might give it a try, but I don't feel like reading in english. It tires me a lot.

I just finished it literally like 3-4 days ago - and it is an amazing book. It's only 147 pages long, so anyone should be able to finish it.

I was actually going to make this thread too damn it. :(

    I kinda miss mapping...
