S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 Cancelled?

Not likely.

Not sure how many of you have heard but it seems like the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. franchise has come to it's end and will most likely not continue to produce more sequels.

At least that's what we can assume from vague tweets by GSC.

It would be a shame to not see any more of this game. Despite not being the best game around the games that were released alongside it, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. did however have that certain atmosphere to it.

Been lots of reports about GSC shutting down the last few weeks, plus tons of released concept art etc from artists given NDA no longer applies.

    What a shame

Sad to see it go. STALKER was one of the only FPSRPGs I liked. Played all three, loved them all, so much fun exploring and finding new weapons and artifacts. The Atmosphere was really something else too, just wish it was a bit more optimized.

Damn. I was really looking forward to Stalker 2.
If true, here's hoping the developers quickly find a new job. Preferably join 4A games since they've got a pretty good post-apocalyptic game going on. It would be great if they can last until Stalker 2 hits consoles, I'm sure it will save them.

Clear Sky was a prologue to Shadow of Chernobyl and Call of Pripyat was a sequel to Shadow of Chernobyl.

Stalker 2 was going to be set in time after CoP iirc.

And the engine stayed the same, they just updated it, much like valve has done with source.

I'm both, heart-broken and relieved. I loved SoC and CoP, and GSC did a good job making these games accessible for PC gamers. Their announcement to create the game multi-platform made me weary though, since you know, there's always that 80%+ chance that a multi-platform game gets watered down and made simplistic to fit both the hardware and casual style of most console-based gamers.

So, I can't really say I'm too hurt. The amount of mods still releasing for SoC/CS/CoP is astonishing, and the more dedicated modders are managing to incorporate new features and locations. There's currently a mod for CoP in the works that adds all of the locations from SoC and CS into one giant game, including revisited and new quests.

I am sad that they went under though, they tried to be good developers and supportive of their fan-base; they don't really deserve to lose their jobs like that.

Its quite sad that a great companies like this, are getting the crap end of the stick while companies making crappy recycled first person shooters thrive on it, and the games aren't even that great in the end result but it still accumulates millions.
